Two fatalities after traffic pursuit to Travis Air Force Base

A driver and a passenger were killed early this morning after allegedly fleeing the scene of a traffic stop in south Napa County and crashing at Travis Air Force Base, according to the Napa County Sheriff’s Office.
The man and his passenger were in a car a little after midnight when Napa County Sheriff’s deputies stopped the vehicle on Highway 12 just east of Highway 29, the Napa County Sheriff’s Office reported. The reason for the traffic stop was not disclosed.
The car then allegedly fled the scene, which led to a pursuit into Solano County. At 12:17 a.m., the suspects’ car crashed at the visitor parking lot at Travis Air Force Base and was immediately engulfed in flames, according to the Sheriff’s Office statement.
The deputies involved in the pursuit grabbed fire extinguishers to try to put out the fire but were unsuccessful.
At 12:25 a.m., Travis Air Force Base Fire arrived at the scene, where the suspect and his passenger were pronounced dead, according to the Napa County Sheriff’s Office. The occupants of the car have not been identified.
The Solano County Coroner’s Major Crimes Force is handling the investigation. The number of Napa County Sheriff’s deputies involved in the incident was not disclosed.
